First off I know this is not the right place to post this question, so my apologies.
For the year 2001 I had my parents and my inlaws for the whole year. Now my question, can I claim them as my dependents as a resident alien in my tax return. I had filed my 485 6mths back, but not sure whether as a resident alien myself if I can get some tax benifits since I incurred a huge amount in supporting them while they were here.

Any inputs is greatly appreciated

Please this is just a question I had in my mind and donot add any connotations to this

Thanks

I claimed

Well my mother-in-law was with us for almost nine months in 1998?
I claimed her as a dependent, since I was the one who sent the sponsorship letter saying that i will support her boarding and lodging while she was in USA.
I had to apply for a temporary Tax Identification number (TIN) with the IRS. To do so I had to send her visa status and notarized copies of her passport. Hope this will help.
