Has anyone tried this?

Has anyone tried using the birth certificate given by Indian
Consulates based on your passport? And what has their experience
been, any RFEs? trying to avoid putting my folks through the grinder getting this document.

PS: My lawyer has never tried this.

Hearsay...

I have heard consulate certificates are useless. For the affidavits all you need is a page typed in a judiciary paper and signed and countersigned by a notary.

In addition u will have to submit BC non availibility letter from ur

place of birth .i.e. in addition to two affidavits from relatives.

In my case I was born before 1969 when the birth/death reg act became compulsory in India so the records are not available. So I have taken and submitted a letter from consulate stating that and two affidavits also. My lawyer says its hould be OK. Meantime I am trying to get the BC non availability letter from my place of birth just to be safe.

got Green card with BC from consulate

I got my I-485 approved using birth certificate issued by Consulate
no RFE in this matter

Hope this helps

I have submitted the Birth Certificate issued by Consulate, and so far no problem.

Even My friend got approval last year , his wife also has B.C. from consulate.

Looks like no Problem.
