Folks,

My prospective employer does not want to hire a lawyer for doing the H1B due to costs. Has anyone applied for H1 themselves? I want to make sure that my H1B is approved and therefore want to do it carefully. I am also planning to do premium processing. They have no idea about how to do an H1B. Please advice.

Thanks.

I'm working on renewing my H1B1 myself without attorney.
Since renewing H1 seems straightforward, i decided to do it.

I am assuming you're trying to obtain your H1B1.
If the attorney fee is the issue, try to shop around more.
When I researched for myself, the range of attorney fee was anywhere from $600 to $3000.

Depending on your knowledge on Immigration law, you may obtain assistance from law school students, who may willing to help you out.

hope this help.

hello babegirl42000,

i am also in the process of renewing my h1b and trying to do it without any lawyer.

would yo be so kind to run down the list of requirements? is renewal similar to starting a new h1b?

do i nee another lca certified before going to BCIS for form I-129?

thanks in advance!

-------- If you have I-129 and the supporting documents that were prepared by lawyer for filling of your past H1 then get the copy from lawyer/employer. if job duty or skills are same it will help you to prepare the package. I know many employer HR directly file for H1 extension or H1 transfer without the help of lawyer, they know what lawyers wrote.

Documents needed for H1 extension

1.Send the I-129 form and H supplement
2. I-129 W.
3. Letter from petitioner

6. All I-797
7. Recent pay stubs
8. Evidence of qualifications
