Has anybody tried submitting I-130/I-485 application directly to local USCIS office?

Has anybody tried submitting I-130/I-485 application directly to local USCIS office rather than mailing it to the Chicago lockbox address?
Did you get your EAD/Advance Parole immidiately in that case?
How much time did it take to get the final green card?

Thanks.

Be the first to do it...

DeC,

Be a trailblazer, be the 1st to submit at a local office and let us know how it goes...

I look forward to your experiences....:)

At worst they will tell you where to stick it.

At best they will simply forward your packet to the Chicago lockbox.

Either way its a pointless exercise.

 Why would you ignore the simple instructions. You are going to have a very, very, "ROUGH RIDE".

Can anybody believe this guy?

Al, I like your comment.:p

One of my friends has done this successfully.

hey, I'm serious, one of my friend has done it in the past (couple of yrs back). just wanted to know if anyone else has done it in the recent past...
thx.

The difference was that a few years ago they used to accept filings at local offices. They stopped. The instructions are clear: follow them.

Hi:

I am curious as to why you are trusting a "friend who has done it in the past." First, rules and laws change. Second, just because someone else did it, does not mean YOU can do it or that you SHOULD do it. The leaps of logic are just too big.

When any reasonable person makes a decision about such things, he or she usually does well to follow the instructions on USCIS forms or the official USCIS website.

I did it in 2004, but rules have changed now.

DeC:

You can be serious.....;) but as I said, be the first one to do it in the sea changes which USCIS have done in the last couple of years. Really, unless you do it, then you won't know and we won't find out....

So... as I said, be the first to test if these changes are really stringent, because someone has to test the policies and who's better able to this, than you? Be brave and take one for the immigrant community..:D

Actually I've heard that coming in on a boat through Ellis Island is a quick way to get residency. My friends ancestors did it, so I don't see why you can't.
