Hi everyone! I apologize if this has been covered in the past but the server is so busy that most of my searches come back with the server too busy message. Anyway, this is my situation:
I'm a US Citizen (3 months ago) and my wife is an F-1 student with a current I-20. We are in the process of filing for her green card but we came up on this road block and need help. The problem is that the school sponsoring her F-1 visa is a scam. The owner is in business to make money off foreign students. In paper, the school is clean and legal but the tactics used by the owner are definetly illegal. For example, my wife made her tuition payment but several months later, he will come back and say that she didn't pay. She will argue with him and show the bank account with the check withdrawn but he will eventually tell her that if she doesn't want to pay again, then she could leave and he will cancel her I20. What an asshole! Well this was before she met me. The owner has been careful not to harass my wife but I do hear of other students' harrassments........ Well, I guess he is kind of figuring out that she is going to apply for her green card so he raised the price for her I20 renewal and her tuition, which are all due next week or he will cancel her I20. I'm sick of this idiot and don't want to give him anymore money.
My question is: If we submit all the necessary paperwork for my wife's green card, can we not renew her I-20? If she came in legally into this country and became illegal during the green card process, is that ok? As far as her being married to a citizen, does it give her any protection? My main concern is should I pay this asshole another $700? And also if anyone knows where I can report this asshole for extortion and illegal use of his rights as a sponsor, please tell me.
Thanks for all your help. I have been following this site for a while. I even got my citizenship by myself because of all the good info in here. Thanks.
