had my interview, pass the exam but no oath date

I had my interview in march at Boston office, the interview went well, but after I passed US history test, the office told me that she couldn't give me an oath date because they need to get my first entry record from CA(I first landed in SF when I got into US many years ago). Her explanation was that once I became a citizen, they will put all my records/files together and lock it up, never touch them again. Now they have requested this missing record from CA, and it usually takes about 1-2 month, sometimes it takes only couple weeks. And once she got the file from CA, she will send me the oath letter.

My questions are, does this sound reasonable to you? Or she is using it at an excuse not to grant my citizenship? She didn’t give me any contact number, instead she gave me a letter says that I passed the exam but due to missing file, a decision can not be made. Is there a way I can check the status of this matter? By calling or physically going to their office?

I would suggest scheduling an Infopass appointment so that you can talk to an Immigration Officer in person.

Hopefully, the IO will be able to give you some information as to what is going on with the file request.

Hope you get your oath letter soon. Best of luck! :)

It all depends on how fast they will get the file. Once they get it there won't be any delay. I am in the same boat they have to combine all my files, today is 118th day, still no decision made yet. I am trying to contact my senator's office.
