H4 visa

My husband has H 1B visa right now we live in USA together. I came here with J1 visa, than I applied for F1. Recently my F-1 has expired. So, my question is:
Can I apply for H-4 visa if I do not have a status and if we got married after my husband got his H 1Bvisa?

you can file H4 in the US if you are still in status. If not in status, you need to go out and come back with H4 stamp.
