H4 Visa questions:Please help...

Hi All,

I'm planning my vacation to India to get marry my fiancee and thinking of bringing her to the US on H4 visa.My vacation is planned strictly for three weeks.

Questions:

1) Can anyone please confirm whether three weeks is enough to complete all her H4 visa paper work, including H4 visa stamp?

2) Does she need to apply for a new passport to include spouse's name on it?If so,how long this process takes in Hyderabad,AP?

3) Does she also need to change her lastname?Is it required at Chennai consulate?

4) How long drop box service takes for visa stamping?

5) On an overall,can she be able to complete the whole process in less than ~3 weeks(assuming I'm reaching there 3 days before the marriage)

6) Where can I get required document list for H4 visa?


Any help is highly appreciated

1. Where are you applying from? Turnaround time depends on whether you are in a metro, whether you can get the marriage certificate faster and provide documentation (the ones you missed ) within a day or two...
2. If applying with mumbai consulate- yes. Others dont require a name change
3. No

5. Probably yes. Is the 3 weeks from marriage or H4 application or your entry into India??

1) I'm applying from Hyderabad,Andhra Pradesh to Chennai consulate.I hope I can get marriage certificate+ all other required docs faster within a day or two.

2) Could you please once again confirm: Does she need to apply for a new passport to include spouse's name on it?If so,how long this process takes in Hyderabad,Andhra Pradesh?
I heard from somebody that it is required for Chennai consulate.May be I heard wrong, could you please confirm this point?
