H4 Visa - Name change in passport reqd?

Hello,
I have an H1B visa and getting married and shall be applying for my wife's H4 in mumbai. (Thanks for the list of documents required posted on this forum. that was gr8 "must know" info.)

Is it required during H4 visa application that my wife's passport should have her surname changed? I am getting married in court first, after which i plan to apply in the consulate. Is it true that the official at the consulate need photographs of several rituals conducted during the mariage? Or is it enough to have photos with garlands and the marriage certificate? Please advice. thanks.

--------- She can get new passport copy with married name or she should add your name as spouse on her passport. Having passport copy with married name will be much better. She need affidavit of name change and marriage certificate copy to get new Copy of passport, pay the fess fill up application, just catch some agent it can be done in maximum 2 days.
