Hi
I entered the country alone with H1b visa from the previous employer and new I797 petition.
Now my wife and kid are coming .The H4 visas on their passports are with my previous employer, valid till sep 30,2008
Just need to make sure that they need not to get new stamping. Also, what papers they need to carry along if needed at the port of entry.
Also,is it mandatory to enter before 6 months of visa expiry?

Really appreciate the help !!

Your family is all set for travel they may carry a copy of your I-797 for the new company - once the visa is stamped no other documnetation is required at the port of entry.

My 6th year H1B and my wife's H4 is expiring on April 6th. I am applying for my 7th year extension and also for my wife's I-539. My wife is planning to go to India this month and come back in June. Her H4 would have expired by then. Does she need her I-797 for her I-539 when it comes to get her visa in India or she needs only my I-797 to get her visa. Thanks.

I-539 is required only when someone need to extend a non-immigrant status whlie residing in U.S. - so in your wife's case, it's the I-797 that's necessary.
