I was on H4 visa for around 1.5 yrs. And then the company where I was working during in India applied for L1B for me. It is now 8 months after I got the L1B approval notice. But I haven't yet got SSN and I haven't worked so far. My H4 is expiring in 2 months. By the way I am in US all these period.
Questions:
1. Is my H4 visa still valid? Or can I change back to H4 without going out of the country and re-entering?
2. Am I out of status since I didn't work for 8 months after L1B approved?
3. When I approached SSN office, they told my status as they see is still H4 and hence they can't give SSN. Does that mean to change status from H4 to L1, there is some additional process (like the company giving some acknowledgement to the INS, or stamping the L1 visa.
Appreciate any advice.
