H4 to H2B. What are the consequences?

Does anybody know what are the consequences of getting an H2B (temporary worker) while on a H4?

Since H2B is just temporary (maybe 1 or 2 yrs) what happens when that H2 visa expires? Am I automatically back in H4 status again? or do I have to reapply?

Status never changed to the other automatically unless you take action.
