H4 to H1B

Is Getting H1 stamped neccessary for a H4 to start working???

1. I would like to know if a H4 holder gets a H1, does he/she has
to go out of the country to get H1 stamped to start working?

2. Can that be any country or only the country of origin (India)?

3. or, is it as simple as taking the H1 to SSN office, apply for SSN
and once you get your SSN, start working??

4. Are there any more precautions to take?

Any suggestions would help...
Thanks

1. If a new I=94 is attached to the approval notice then you can start working in US without stamping

2. It could be any country. Recently we went to Mexico for the same reason

3. Without valid i-94 not possible to get a SSN

4. Nothing

Thank you. That was helpful info.
When you say, there is no need get the H1 stamped
do you mean it is enough if we went out of the country
and came back again? (That way we get a new I94).

Can you give me some more info on
the Mexican consulate etc., If there is
anything I should take care of.

Thank again..
