H4 to H1 ( with valid H1B approval papers)

I am currently on H4.After i got H4 stamping i received my H1B approval papers.I didn't use those papers to get H1B stamped & came to US using my H4.I want to know whether my status can be changed to H1 using those approval papers or do i have to apply afresh for H1 in new quota??Kindly help.

If you want to use the approved H1 on your hand , you have to go out of USA to said consulate in the H1 paper to get the visa stamped and come back with new I 94 with caveat h1B to start working.
