H4 to H1 question

So, lets say I am on F1 visa right now. My company files for my H1 visa and my wife's H4 visa on April 2, 2007. If the petition is approved, my wife has H4 status on Oct 1, 2007. Now, can she convert from H4 to H1 after October 1? Will she be exempt from the quota since she is on H4?

come on, no way you can escape from that, she need to wait till april2008 to file for her h1b, otherwise both of you can apply h1b same time in april2007.
