H4 to H1 and re-entering on H4; can we work?

I entered USA on H4 Visa then applied for H1B; got approval with change of status to H1. So for I haven't started working on H1B.

Now, can I go back to India and enter USA on presently available H4 visa stamp in passport as this is still valid?
If I enter on H4, can I start working on approved H1B petition? Just trying avoid H1b stamping in India. Any suggestions please?

Nope. if you reenter in h-4 status, you are in H-4 status and cannot work.
 
Thank you. Still employer would be having I-94 with change of status right when they got the approval. Can't we use that to work here? Or is it becomes INVALID when we go out of country and renter as we get the new I-94 during re-entry?

When you change your status from H-4 to H-1, did they give you a full 3 years on the H-1? If not, then what time frame did they gave you and what was it based on? Thanks.
