H4 to G visa in US

Hi,
I am getting converted from H1 to G Visa. My wife is currently on H4 and has to be converted to G visa too. But she is pregnant and cannot travel to Canada. If I get converted from H1 to G, what will be her status. Can she continue on H4 until she gets the conversion into G before her H4 visa expires. Is there any possibility to have the conversion from H4 to G for my wife within USA.
She has only one H4 visa stamped on her passport.

once you change your status from H to G, her H status is no longer valid. you both should switch together. I don't know if the switch is possible from within the US - it may be...better get some 2nd opinions to be safe.
