h4 to f1

hi

can some one pls advise and pls post if some one have similar experiences.

if a person is on h4 and would like to convert to f1 ,if she is converted then,

1/does that person should go to stamping immdieatly or
she can travel back and forth to india with her current h4 visa

2.if she goes for canada for stamping and say suppose she was refused visa in canada , does she has to go back to india or she can still travel to back to USA with her H4

3.how complicated or how the consulate chennai treat this stuff as when we filled the application for h4 visa we told ..I am not going to study.

4.how much time does it take from h4 to f1.as h1-b or employer should do any thing.

Also I have everything like payslips ,w2's and i was never on bench or without job for last 4 years

1. Once the F1 is approved, she should not use H4. One can be in only one visa.
2. She can come back into US if H4 is valid, however she cannot continue her studies. She has to apply for a H4 to F1 again.
3. Yes, but if it was long enough you are allowed to change your mind.
4. 3-6 months depending on service center. I539 and I20 are essential. Your paystubs might show financial support.
