H4 to F1 Need Advice

HI everyone,
I have looked thro the archives but could not find specific info.
Something about my background, I am finishing 6 yrs in April 2007, will apply for extension based on pending GC.

I am on a H4 visa and plan to go back to school starting Jan 2007, I have couple of options

1. Either stay on H4 , I qualify for in state tuition but no OPT
2. COS to F1,international fee but can qualify for scholarship and OPT(but conflicting with GC application which is intent to immigrate)

If I am on a F1 can I switch to H1 or does the 6 years quota hold good?
Do I have any other options other than praying for EAD based on GC which looks very distant.

You can change your status from H4 to F1 without any problem. This forum so many people have done it on my recommendation.

If I am on a F1 can I switch to H1 or does the 6 years quota hold good? Unless you are one year out of USA, you can not get f1 to H1 again. (6 yrs h1+h4).
