H4 to F1..going to India..

hi, my current visa status is H4(spouse) and have started my college 2 days back(spring 2006 semester). i wish to change my visa status to F1 at the earliest. I am going to India for 10 days in February,(11-21). My question is- Will it be better to go to India and come back on H4 and then apply for change of status, or should i get my F1 visa stamped from india when i go to India in february? Is there a greater risk in doing so? If my F1 visa is rejected in India, can i still come back to US on H4 visa? Please advice me. Thank-you.

If you try to get your F1 in India, probaly you will not get one, because F1 you have to prove that you are going to come back to your home country. having your spouse in US, how are you going to prove that one. High risk.
