H4 to EAD

My wife is maintaining H4 status and she got her EAD card. Also my I-140 is pending. If my wife would like to work using EAD, does she needs to work for the employer who sponsored the GC or will she able to work for any employer? Due to some reason if 140 or 485 gets denied then what options she will have to maintain the status? Please suggest!

She'll need to leave the US and re-enter using her H4.
