H4 Surname..URGENT

Hi,
I heard that to get H4 visa stamped in India, the dependent need to have the surname of sponser in the pass port. Is this correct. I heard this rule is implemented from July 1st.

Please post if any one got H4 stamped after July1st their experience.

Yes it is true.I know of someone who recently came from india had to change her name on the passport.you can get more info from visa-services.com.

You can also chek the US embassy website...in H4 documents they mention that spouse's name must be endorsed on passport.

Hello Sir/Madam,
I am being informed that
"Besides the standard supporting documents like (original I-797, marriage cert., company letter, photo album etc.) It is mandatory for H4 applicants to add spouses name on the last page of the applicants passport"
Please let me know whether this is true ?.
I appreciate your quick response since my spouse is planing to go for a H4 Visa very shortly from Mumbai Consulate and passport does not have my name since passport was issued way back in 95.

The consulate has now made it mandatory that H1B holders name should be mentioned on the H4's passport.
