H4 status

Hi to those who can help me:
My husband issued his first H1 on Oct.1, 2001 and reissued with different company on Dec. 1, 2001. However, during the second process, the administrative forgot to include myself and my son as dependants. My son and I have H4 status with the previous company until Sep. 30, 2004. Do I need to change my H4 status with my husband\'s current employer or is the H4 no employer-specific? Please someone help me...

H4 is dependent on H1 and so indirectly company specific.

Since you have valid I94 you are ok.
However it will be better if you get H4 (given post sept 11 paronia of INS). Best way is to go to canada/mexico and get it from the US consulate there.
You can also apply with I539 or go to your home country and get the stamp.
