H4 Stamping at Mumbai Consulate

The H4 petition of my wife has been denied saying that she is 'out of status'. Hence, she is going to India to Mumbai Consulate to get her H4 visa.

I do not have my H1 B stamp in my passport as I did not travel out of US after I got my H1B.

First time she came to the US on J2 visa and she has not gone out of US since then.

Can any one tell :

1. Whether she can use drop box or she has to go personally.
2. If drop box, what is the procedure and where is that drop box?
3. Is it OK that my passport is not stamped with my H1B?
4. Does she need affidavit of support?

I will post more questions as they come to our mind.

Will appreciate all replies.

Thanks

try this website

http://www.visa-services.com for dropbox option.

Actually I am in a very similar position like your wife.. only thing is that my H4 was approved here.. but will that make a difference? Can i go for my visa stamping first without H1b stamping of my husband's visa?

H4 without H1

has been approved in some cases and not in others (especially newly wed ones). The logic being, if the h1 holder is also in town, he/she should also get the stamp.
I dont think y'all will have any problem.
Bank statements are enough, but you can give that info in a AOS format.
