well they were correct in rejecting revalidation if stamp expired more than a year ago. U dont really need to get the stamp unless you r planning to travel if there is an unexpired I-94 with extension approval.
U can go to canada/mexico or wait till you plan to travel in India.
even in India you will have to go for a personal interview.
