H4 Reqirement in India??

REcently I heard that for getting h4 visa in india, h4 seeking applicant has to add the spouse name in ones passport. is it true? If yes than how long it takes to get the spouse name in the passport since h1B visa holder mostly go to india for 3-4 weeks and get married. Was wondering how it will affect the vacation schedule!
Any insight or detail would be highly appreciated. Thanx

U could

do it here in the US. Nearest Indian Embassy will do it for you by post or a fee. Search the internet for Indian Embassy...

h4 requirement

thanks jaxen but u didn't get my question. IF a person is not married he cannot add the spouse name in his passport in U.S at the nearest Indian embassy. Also h1b holder doesn't need to do it coz he already have a visa, the question is for applicant seeeeking h4, dependent visa.

U can do it in India

If u r saying that u r getting married in Inida , then u can get it done from PP office which issued PP by showing the marriage certificate.It can be done in 1 day.
Mumbai and Delhi Consulate have this requirement now.
I am not sure abt Chennai.

Hello, I have a friend in same boat. can anyone tell me how much time it takes in india to add a spouse name - he is married and his wife is in india for passort change and visa?

Is it 1 day or more? (specially in Ahemedabad).
Anyone has any experience?
