I am on H1B in U.S. currently. My H1B expires this year in August. I plan to go to India in May to bring my spouse with me on H4. Is there a requirement on the number of months or years that my H1B should be valid for applying for H4 for my spouse?

I don't want the situation where I go with her to apply for H4 in May and the consulate tells me that since my H1B is going to be expiring soon so they'd not issue a H4 for my wife.

Please let me know. Thanks, folks.
 
You can renew your H1 several month before expiry, if that is the case check with yur attorney and apply for renewal. Take the petition receipt papers
as back up.
