H4 not extended by mistake - 1.5 years

My friend changed jobs few times and by mistake he has not applied for his spouse for his last two jobs. Recently he discovered that his wife\'s I-94 has been expired for last 1.5 years.

Please let me know the options he has.

Be straight!

Why are you so worried about your friends wife? Is she your concubine or you are the person who has this problem and come up with a story of friend\'s wife.
 
Talk to a lawyer....ASAP

I went through a similar situation myself, but realized the mistake soon enough to file for a H4 extension within 60 days of I-94 expireing.
If you are out of status > 6 months after your I-94 date you are subject 3 years outside the country and if it is >12 months you are out for 10 years.
Check with a lawyer ASAP, he might recommend a way out of this...

problem with I-94

At the port of entry. the INS people gave me I-94 only till August,2002, because my passport would be expiring in August.But, I have visa till Feb,2004. Also they told me to get it corrected once I get a new passport. I went to INS local office yesterday with a new passport. But INS people told me that there is no need to get it corrected and I can stay till Feb,2004. But I don\'t think so? Any inputs please??

I had a similar problem. My lawyer got an affidavit made from me saying how I come I did not file earlier and is applying for H4 with an effort to bring my wife back in status.
