H4 legal income from stocks/options/futures

I hold an H4 visa as a dependent under my wife's H1B. If I have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), is it legal for me to generate my own income by trading stocks? No daytrading, but frequent buying/selling for profit. Thanks to anyone who can advise or point me to resources.

Finally I think I found an answer to my own question. Still need to verify through an official source, but it appears I *can* trade/invest in the US as an H4 holder. Huge relief, as I'm going crazy doing no work as I'm sure many of you understand. Here is a useful site for H4 'prisoners' like me:
