h4 issues..please advice

My wife and kids need to travel India in MAY 2004. They are on H4 status from last 4 years and visa on the passport expired in Jan, 2004. Recently received new H4 valid till Aug.2005. No time to get it stamped here as it is taking more time....Need to get it stamped in chennai to return to US.

Is it advisable to go to Chennai ? I have been hearing lot of stories with problems there in issuing h4 visas. Myself employed with a fortune 10 company from last 3 years and no issues till date with my visa or job for myself in US from 1998.

Stamping done previously in chennai and US, do they need to visit chennai consulate personally ?

Is it worth taking risk travelling ?? Please advice...

1 she can get Visa stamp from Chennai consulate but Bombay and chennai are creating many problems for H1 and H4 Visa stamp, if she is going to stay in India for 5-6 months then apply with Chennai
2 I will send her passport for Visa revalidation in US that is much better and she will get Visa stamp and passport will be returned in 90-100 days.
you have to choose what you want to do. I would not like to get struck with Chennai consulate as they can ask any documents and ask truck load of documents many are stuck in India. Bombay also started the same problem, if you can postpone her trip and trip is not important then get H4 revalidated from DOS
