I had applied for change of status from H4 to F1 with the receipt date March12th. I haven't heard anything as of today. When i enquired all i heard back was that file is under security check. I don't know what this means.
Meanwhile can I just travel to India/Canada and get my H4 stamped? I just feel that i don't need an F1 at all now after so much delay. my h4 is not stamped in my passport since i changed the status to H4 last year and did not travel outside the US since then. Is there any withdrawal procedure for the current I539 requesting the F1 filed here OR If i leave the country does the application automatically get withdrawn? Is there any danger that my F1 approval will cross between these time of travel? Will there be any problems in consulate about why i filed an I539 to change from H4 to F1 and why I am not pursuing it? Pls advice. Thanks.
