My wife had submitted all papers for H4 to TTSDropBox in Delhi... (my stuff - copies of passport, paystubs, bank statement, letter from company, I-797, etc etc and her stuff - her passport, marriage crrtificate, photos, etc etc) and still they called her for an interview???

What would they ask? Any ideas? Am really scared as what will happen if her H4 is rejected :((

Shd she be prepared for any specific type of questions? Any pointers would be really helpful

Thanks a lot!

Is this is the first time she is applying for H4? How long you are working in US? If you sent her all your paper work including your tax returns I think you should not have any problem in getting visa for your wife. My wife and child visa got stamped from Chennai after an initial query. They asked us to apply through the drop box second time and we got it 4 days. For H4 there should not be any problem as long as we are working here not on bench.

Thx vanrkr...

I have been working here for the past 4 years now.. am not on bench and am still employed!!

I did not send my tax return papers.. did send my W2 though. I believe they do mention if some document is missing.. They didnt in her case..

Hope the interview goes fine...

List of docs for H4

Raja986,

Here are some docs... (intent is to show that you have a job here - thru recent paystubs; that u had been employed in the past - thru W2, tax papers; that u have a bank balance that would support your spouse so that she doesnt have to work etc to make ends meet)

1. Copy of H1 (797 etc)
2. copy of all pages of your passport (with/without i-94)
3. Letter of employment (two originals) from the current employer
4. copy of Recent paystubs
5. copy of Latest W2 and/or tax papers
6. a letter from you (to whoever it may concern) stating that you want your wife be granted an H4 visa and that you will support her and bear all her expenses.

I think this is a safe enough list of docs reqd. For more info, goto: http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/in1/wwwhl_h.html#booka (search for H-4)

Hope if helps!

h4 interview

Micky;

could you please share your wife\'s interview experience. Did you receive any green colored letter for appearing in interview. Did it say any reasons why interview is needed

thanks

DrGreen, I have no info on the color of the letter

Will let you know once my wife is here... They were suspicious about whether marriage did happen between us (attribute that to the marriage photos - we got married in a temple).
Rest was fine... The officer said it is approved and that it will be mailed and shd reach home in 3-4 days.

Good luck!

Marriage Certificate

DrGreen:

Thanx. We got married in a temple - with all the ceremonies; the priest gave us a marriage certificate (saying that we are married according to Hindu Marriage Act) and then we took that certificate to Marriage egistrar\'s office and he "registered" our marriage and gave us a Marriage Certificate. Some paperwork is involved here, so, check with a lawyer - what all is needed.

As for photos, make sure you have enough photos - photos of relatives, parents and the priest surrounding the bride/groom; marriage in front of fire; photos during fere; etc etc..

Lemme know if I answered your question completely.

All the best!

marriage

Hi,

We got married in a court a week ago (in India) and I am planning
to apply for my wife\'s H4 with all teh documents and the wedding
photos (simple photos, no fire, no priest), The actual wedding
is 2 weeks from now. The court marriage was only to get H4 right
around actual wedding so as not to delay our departure. Now I am
worried that they might ask for hindu wedding photos and if we
wait for
actual wedding photos then they might say why the certificate is
old. Any help ?

Thanks,
-Muku
