H4 - h1B Travel outside usa..

i came to usa on h4 on april 2006. Applied for H1B in May 2006.
Right now Iam waiting for the approval. i have plans to go to india in Dec-06.
i have h4 visa validity till 2008.
Do i need to get h1b stamping to start working in usa. ?
Can i enter the usa in jan -07 with H4 visa and start working with H1B approval Notice..? PLS HELP ME..

If your H1 was applied from H4 to H1 change of status then your H1 approval may have I-94 attached and you can work and stay in US on H1.

If you go out of US and want to enter on H1 then you will need H1 visa stamp so that you can enter on H1 status and work on H1 status.
If you use H4 valid stamp to enter US then you will be on H4 status and can not work with H1 approval notice in situation posted by you, as your last entry to US will be recorded as H4
