Hi all
I need a little attention from all of you. I got married over the telephone last month. I am working here in USA on H1 visa since 2002. Now what should be the next step to follow for her to apply for H4 visa back home. Do I need to register my marriage here as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

What is the proof? Where is the Documentary evidence? Who issued marriage certtificate??

May need photographs too for applying H4.

All marriages require both parties to be present at the time of wedding. For purposes of Visa issuance, the main document required is

1. Marriage certificate : You can't get this without your signature, which needs to be signed in front of the issuing officer.

Consulates also require other "proof" like photos of your wedding etc.

Yeah -- am curious about this too ....

kamrans ... can you please elaborate on what you meant by that !?!

And here I was ... thinking that you could do everything over the phone in the US .... but there is someplace in the world that beats it :) :)

Don't even try applying for a visa like this. They'll most likely reject it, and it will complicate your life enormously as you'll be here and your spouse will be stuck at home country.

Just go to home country, get married and do it right. The first time visa stamping is very important. If it goes well, remaining visa stampings usually are not much issue.

Kamrans, don't know about your case, but even my friend got married when his wife was elsewhere. Atleast for some Muslims, the preist (Qazi) takes the consent of boy and girl at different times and then declare them as man and wife.
That friend is in US along with his family and I can ask him what documents he submitted. Haven't been in touch with him for a long time, so I may take some time.

Did he get married while he was in US or some other Gulf countries.
