h4 extension fee

hi,
Our company lawyer is applying for my h1 extension and he recommended to apply for my wife's h4 at the same time. He had asked for $140 for my wife's h4 extension fee. he say personal check is fine. I would still like to confirm this because I do remember that 2 years back I had to send demand draft for revalidating my h1 visa. is personal check for h4 extnesion fee valid? thanx in advance.

I applied for my wife H4 renewal end of Jan. 2004. I sent personal check for the renewal fees.
