Folks,
My h1 completes 6 yrs on mar 20 but i cannot file extension till march 9th bcos of my GC LC filing date. My company wont pay to file h4 extension for my wife so i have to file myself. My question is, if they file my extension on march 10-15th , and i dont have the receipt notice , can i still file for my wife's extension without my receipt notice or should i wait for the LIN Number ? If I wait my wife may go out of status right, as her h4 also expires march 20th. Pls suggest some ideas.
Thanks

From my own experience, usually it costs around $400 to file H4 thru company lawyer. Keeping in view the fact that this is 7th year ext. and you have a narrow window for applying for H1 and H4, IMHO, it is worth spending that money.
BTW, I do not think my lawyer waited for my receipt number before filing my wife's H4, but then it was not a 7th year ext. either. So do not know the answer.
