H4 after GC approval

Hi Friends,
I have a question about the validity of the H4 visa after the approval of the primary applicant's GC approval.

I am a Feb-02 485 filer and my wife's 485 was filed in Apr-03. We did not apply for an AP for her as my H1 is valid till Apr-04 and she has H4 staming on her passport till Apr-04.

My wife is considering a two months trip to India. Is it risky to go with out a renewed AP. What if my 485 approval comes before she comes back?

If the 485 of the primary applicant is approved, does the H4 automatically expire and could it cause any problems at the port of entry.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It would be wise to renew the AP. Dont take any risk when you are so close to approval. The rule about H1/H4 expiring if approved when travelling is not clear to anyone. So why take chances.
