Hello,

I am currently an H1B visa holder at an academic institution (a University). Another institute wants to appoint me in a research position. I am not sure if this institute is considered to be an academic or non-academic institution. My question is that will I be eligible to start working in this institute once they file for my H1B with BCIS? Two years ago when I moved from one University to another one, I was able to start working right after my H1B application was received by INS.

I will appreciate your input on this.

Yes. It is not necessary that your speciality occupation has to be with a similar type of institution/ company. if there is a LCA approved for this position, then H1 transfer is normal.
