Hi all,

This is my first post to this forum. I have read all the messages i could find relating to my issue but could not get the needed information. If anyone of you knows of any messages in the Archive that could help in my case please refer them to me.

Here is my case and i am sure i am not the only one facing this dilema.

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident from a Britsh Common Wealth Country (Pakistan) living here in the US on an H1B visa. I however donot have the H1B visa stamped in my passport. I am planning on applying for the stamp at the US Consulate in Toronto. Does anyone of you reading this know of someone who is from pakistan and who has applied for a H1b visa stamp recently. I found a lot of posts here that pertain to nationals of other countries that have applied for visas at the Toronto Consulate but not of anyone from Pakistan. The reason i ask this is that although Pakistan in not on the list of countries that have terrorist ties (like Syria, Iraq, iran etc) it is considered a high risk country. I am sure they will go through intensive security checks and the process might take 60 days (thats what the consulate representative told me on the phone when she called to confirm my appointment at the Toronto Consulate). I am trying to gather some information of any experiences you might have with Toronto Consulate and more importantly how long is it taking to get the visa these days for national of Pakistan who are Canadian Permanent Residents. Also i would like to apply for my PR Card. Sorry this is so long.

Any input on the subject is highly appreciated.

Thanks
Jack

Toronto is notorious for non US degree holders' H1 rejection.
But it is true that security check takes more than 30 days for pak nationals. I hope Actual experiences will follow...

I do have a US degree. I have an MBA in Information Technology. Any one who knows of any experiences with US emabssy in Toronto and is a national of Pakistan could you please let us all know your experience with them and especially how long did it take you to get the visa if you got one.

Thanks
JACK

H1 stamp

Here is the experience of Paki national:
In Toronto first they asked questions like how many employee works in the company and also asked about the Salary and how you'r going to sponsor your wife the consular asked teh person to contact after 1 month for security clearance and gave a paper saying that.

After two weeks when the person asked about the clearnace embassy told to come any day btween 8-11:30. Then the person went there they had 10 sec question like how life has changed and then asked to show up again next to get visa between 3-5 pm.

It looks simple but need all the preration from your side,

Goodluck to all
