H1B Visa Quota: Urgent

Hi

Is anyone aware of current H1B visa situation for this year (2006 and 2007)? Want to know how soon I can apply for H1B, how much time it will take in processing, and how soon one can start working using the same?

I am told that for 2007 quota, one can start work only from Oct, 2006. Is there a way that one start early?

Pls help.

you can apply in April and you can start working only after Oct 1.
