H1B visa, no direct flight

i am gonna travel soon on H1B visa, my institution is located in chicago, but unfortunately there are no direct flight from my country to chicago, so can i land in lets say NY and then through domestic flight transfer to chicago? or i have to book a ticket directly to chicago?

If you are subject to special registration, then you have to use the port of departure/entry (NY in this case) to register, not Chicago. Otherwise, as far as I know, there are no other restrictions. But I would call the CBP at the airport if you can.

Nonimmigrant alien visitors subject to NSEERS registration at the port of entry:

* Certain citizens or nationals of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan and Syria, as designated by the DHA Secretary in the Federal Register.
* Nonimmigrants who have been designated by the State Department
* Any other nonimmigrant, male or female regardless of nationality, identified by immigration officers at airports, seaports and land ports of entry in accordance with 8 CFR 264.1(f)(2).
