H1B VISA -HOw to get Canada VISA?

Hi, i need to get my H1B VISA stamped. i am working in Minneapolis.
I plan to go to Ottawa. pleaas, can u suggest how i can get a Canadian tourist VISA. Is it really necessry to go in person to canadian embassy?what are the doocuments necessary for this VISA. I am in L1 status.
I am greatly confused. Also, i am also taking my spouse with me..gimme some suggestions..

what are the doocuments necessary for this VISA. I am in L1 status.

-----------Visa fees, forms, photo, your valid status in US(like valid I-94 or copy of H1 approval) passport ,photographs.Copy of your appointment letter with US consulate in Canada.
I am greatly confused.
