Is it ok to sign a independent contract (my name) but pay cheque in the name of present employers.
My employer(present) is ready for any type of contract, even they can accept a situation where, client(new employer) issues a cheque with my name and I submit that cheque to my present employer, who inturn pay me.

does this look ok?

As for as you are not taking any pay check from your contract employer, it is OK.
