I live in NJ and have a driver's license which expires on the same day my H1b expires ( Jul end)- NJ DMV started doing this with all temp workers after Sep 11.
The DMV in NJ is also ridiculously paranoid when it comes to issuing licenses and when I moved from PA to NJ , they made me waste a whole day to get a license( but thats a whole diff story about how bad the DMV is ) - basically my license says Temporary INS Visa status on it. Since my 3 years of H1b expire in July end my company is filing my extension sometime this week but I am afraid my H1b renewal 797 may not come and the NJ DMV refuses to give a renewal on the license based on the H1 B receipt. If they dont renew it , & my license expires and is not renewed and I will not be able to commute to work in addition probably higher insurance rates etc for an expired license. What r my options here - has anyone been in a similar situation ?
