H1b Transfer Passport under renewal

Hi
I have submitted my passport for renewal with the indian embassy (expiry date aug 08 willtake 2 month - ) In the Mean time i have recieved a new job offer. I have copies of my passport etc. Can i file for H1b transfer with those copies because they show the date of expiry to be aug 08 2006 .

will i that be a problem , If i wait for month the job offer will not be around as the employer wants me to begin asap.

Please advice .
