H1B Transfer <-> Green Card processing

Hello,
I'm currently in H1B and the current employer had applied for my green card (2 years before in New Jersey). It is in the first stage.

At this point, I want to transfer my H1B to a consulting company. I have couple of questions

1) I believe my new employer has to apply for my green card which starts the process again from the beginning? Is that a problem for getting the greencard?

2) The new employer is quoting xx$/ Hour. Can I work Hourly with H1B? Is it a problem for my greencard processing?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Nina

-------------- new employer has to file new LC through PERM employer may take 2-3 months for advertising and then lawyer time to file then your LC may be approved in 2-3 months. ask the employer before joining when they will file LC. Your PD will be 2006 if new LC is filed in 2006 and will take a long time to get GC. if your earler LC gets approved and that employer is ready to file I-140 for you after LC gets approved and once I-140 gets approved you can have early PD( if the past employer does not revoke the approved I-140.

Thanks in advance!
