H1B transfer from academic institution to a private company ???

Hi,

I am on my OPT (start date: June 01, 2005) now but have an offer from an academic institution and they are willing to sponsor my H1B visa. I know that this type of H1B doesnt come under any H1B caps but I have some questions regarding H1B transfer -

1) Does this kind of transfer different from normal company to company H1B transfer ? If so, how this works if I want to transfer it to a company before or after October 1st ?

2) Will I be in any kind of trouble later if I accept this offer ?

Please help me in this regard as I am unable to decide what to do and this is the only offer I have so far.

H1b can be transferred to a company from academic institutions but the tricky part is....it has to be approved within the 65,000 quota or 20,000 ( if you have MS ) before the quota expires

What do you mean by trouble and what kind of trouble?

Please help me in this regard as I am unable to decide what to do and this is the only offer I have so far.

An other question, Can I apply for H1B (if quota still remains) after Oct 1st 2005 ?

If Quota expires you can't transfer ur h1 to companies until next october' 2006.Suppose if 20K and 65K are both expired, U can only start after oct'2006.even though INS allows you to submit as early as Apr or May 2006 ( I am not sure if its 5 months ahead or 6 months) The start date will only be October'2006.
An other question, Can I apply for H1B (if quota still remains) after Oct 1st 2005 ?

You can apply if quota is available.
