My initial H1 visa was issued in May 2000 and is expiring in May 2003. I am on a very good project for the last 20 months and sensing economy slowdown, my employer, a consulting firm has not increased my salary for the last 20 months. Even though my client is very much satisfied with my work, due to his relations with my emplyer, he is not ready to absorb me in the company. I don't want to renew my visa with this employer. I have not received any other job offer so far. How late a job offer can get me H1 visa i.e is it possible that I get a job offer in April 2003 and will get my new H1 processed. I will go back to India in time otherwise and will get my reservation done now.

Thanks.

Himanshu

Yes. You can file for H1 transfer until a week (to accomodate filing time delays etc.) before expiry. You can also file for Premium processing (additional 1000) a month before expiry to receive the new H1 before expiry date.
