H1b Transfer and capturing lost period

My H1b was filed in May'02, approved in Jul'02 and I came to US in Apr'03..
First approval upto May'05, Second Approval upto May'08

My question is..

How many months, I would be able to capture? 11months or 9 months

I got my MBA in May'06 and starting a new job (transfer of H1b visa) in Jun'06..

Is it possible to capture the lost period, while filing for transfer of H1b visa?
How long it takes to receive new I-797?

Appreicate your help..
 
For INS counting purpose your H1 visa validity start from April 2003 only.

From Apr 2003 you are eligible to stay 6 yrs in USA .
