H1B to F1 and CPT

I am in US for last 2 yrs on H1B visa and also studying fulltime. Looking for information about the time period it would take to transfer visa from H1B to F1.

Is it mandatory to be on F1 visa for one year to become eligible for CPT? I heard that if I am in US for last two years and change myself to F1 visa than I amimmediately eligible for CPT.

it will take several months to change status. You have to be in F-1 status for a year in order to qualify for CPT/OPT. You are already working, why would you need it?
 
Why I want to change from H1b to F1?

At present I am doing my MBA and looking for summer internship(investment banking or investment management). If i remain on H1b its difficult to get a company who can offer me internship. Though i am also targetting small companies whom i can convince to do a contract(3 months) with my present employer. In case if they offer me full time job then I can transfer my H1 to the new employer. However I am not sure whether it is right to do.
